About Cedarli
Cedarli exists because finding a genuinely calm hotel shouldn't be a gamble.
If you're neurodivergent, highly sensitive, or simply someone whose nervous system needs quiet to recover after travel — you already know the problem. Mainstream booking platforms don't filter for what actually matters to you: noise levels, lighting control, crowd density, sensory overload risk.
"Quiet location" in a review usually means quiet by neurotypical standards. "Great atmosphere!" often means loud music and packed common areas. The information you need to make a confident booking decision simply doesn't exist on traditional platforms.
Cedarli is building the alternative.
What we do
We curate hotels and small accommodations that meet real sensory-comfort standards. Every property on Cedarli is reviewed across seven dimensions — noise, natural materials, crowding, lighting, air quality, predictability, and food — and receives a transparent Calm Score.
We don't list everything and let you filter. We find the places that are genuinely calm, explain exactly why, and are honest about the limitations. If a property's breakfast room gets chaotic at 8am, we'll tell you that — and suggest going at 7:30.
The Calm Score
Each property receives a score from 0 to 100 based on weighted evaluation across seven sensory dimensions. Noise and sound carry the highest weight (30%) because it's consistently the most impactful factor for sensitive travelers. Nature and biophilic design carry 20%, reflecting our belief that natural environments actively reduce sensory load rather than just avoiding stimulation.
Calm Scores are editorial assessments, not scientific measurements. They're based on review analysis, community reports, property information, and — where possible — first-hand verification. We're transparent about our confidence level for every score, and we update them as we learn more.
Properties scoring below 55 are not listed. This is curation, not a directory.
How we make money
Cedarli earns affiliate commissions when you book through our partner links (primarily Booking.com). You pay the same price as booking directly — our commission comes from the platform, not from you.
We believe in transparency about this: our business model is aligned with finding you places you'll actually enjoy, because that's what drives return visits and recommendations. We will never list a property just because it pays more commission.
Built with the community
Nothing about us without us. Cedarli's criteria are informed by neurodivergent travelers' actual experiences and priorities — from Reddit communities, direct conversations, and lived experience. We're building this platform with community input, not making assumptions about what sensitive travelers need.
If you've stayed somewhere genuinely calm and want to nominate it, or if you have feedback on our criteria, we want to hear from you.
What Cedarli is not
We are not a medical service. Calm Scores are not clinical assessments, and we make no therapeutic claims. We're a travel curation platform that takes sensory comfort seriously — but we're not a replacement for professional guidance about your specific needs.
